Our Story

Where Nastaran began

Nastaran was born from a life lived across cultures, and from the desire to carry those layers with us, not as something left on a shelf, but as something worn, lived in, and felt.

I’m Negina, the founder of Nastaran. I was born in Kabul and left as a child with my mother after my father went missing during the war. Safety meant leaving, but identity came with us.

I grew up in the Netherlands, where I learned the beauty of simplicity, structure, and self-expression. Even with very little, my mother taught me that dignity and style can be a form of strength. Later, Australia became home. Once again, family followed. Three countries, three cultures, one continuous thread: strong women, deep roots, and the freedom to evolve.

The language of the fabric

The design language of Nastaran is shaped by one of the world’s oldest textile traditions: the ikat silks, embroidery, and needlework of Central Asia and Afghanistan. These crafts grew along the ancient Silk Road, carrying pattern, knowledge, and culture across generations of women.

It is a region of extraordinary design, where strength and resilience are often expressed through beauty. Nastaran brings that heritage into the contemporary world, not as costume, and not as nostalgia, but as design with meaning.

What the name means

Nastaran is named after the Persian word for wild rose, a symbol of love, resilience, beauty, and feminine strength. The wild rose grows freely, boldly, and on her own terms.

That same spirit shapes the brand: heritage honoured, but never frozen. Crafted with intention, but made for now.

Why I created it

I created Nastaran for the cosmopolitan woman and she who lives between worlds. She lives a layered life and wears pieces that reflect it.

Nastaran is not about trends. It is about curiosity. It is about conversation. It is about connection. It is about embracing where we come from, while fully enjoying where we are, here and now.

Looking ahead

As the brand grows, I want Nastaran to remain a place where heritage, craft, and modern life meet with honesty and care. That includes future collaborations with artisans, bringing traditional techniques and cultural knowledge into the brand in a way that feels thoughtful and contemporary.

I’m so glad you are here.

Love, Negina

The woman who lives between worlds

Who carries her past with pride while fully inhabiting the present.

Named after the Persian word for wild rose. A flower that blooms without permission, on her own terms.
